HISTORY:
In the early days before the creation of the hidden villages, a man by the name of Toshiro was born. Having grown up during the time of the Warring States, he had to mature fast and become as powerful as possible to ensure his life could continue, and to help with this he traveled the lands looking for sources of power. It was during this journey that came across a burning pit of fire within the deep reaches of the Land of Grass; an eternally burning fire that seemed to rage from the core of the earth itself.

While observing this pit, Toshiro lost his balance and managed to fall into its clutches. During his descent, however, he noticed that the flames did not burn him, rather they seemed to invigorate him. From his screams, however, he happened to eat some of the flames that surrounded him by mistake. After somehow managing to stop himself from falling to the bottom of the bit, Toshiro was able to climb back to the top of the pit, but he himself was forever changed. Already a master of the Fire-Release, Toshiro found that after having eaten the flames within the pit, his Fire-Release techniques were much more powerful than they already were, and they burned a lot more than they had previously too. This led to Toshiro garnaring the moniker of "The Dragon of The West".

When Toshiro would gain a new apprentice or follower, he would have them go through the initiation of jumping into the pit to eat the eternal flames. Should they succeed, they were officially granted membership into the clan, but the power granted by this too was found to pass itself down via genetics. Before his death, Toshiro had the pit sealed away with many different and very powerful Fūinjutsu, and the power bestowed to the clan by the pit was labeled as a Kekkei Genkai.

When the Waring States Period came to a close, the Megumi Clan helped to create the village of Kusagakure no Sato, and was perhaps one of the most influential clans within the village. It produced several renowned members who held positions of high authority before its destruction during the Third Shinobi World War. Following the war, the remaining members of the clan scattered across the Shinobi World in hopes of finding new places to call home.

NOTABLE MEMBERS:

Toshiro Megumi: The first member of the clan, known by the moniker of "The Dragon of The West". He was the first known person to eat the eternal flames that granted him his Hellfire Kekkei Genkai.

KEKKEI GENKAI:

Hellfire-Release (業火遁, Gōkaton): When a person wielding this Kekkei Genkai uses any Fire-Release technique, it is instantly regarded as a Hellfire-Release technique. The flames of the Hellfire-Release burn much hotter than the average Fire-Release, an average of 100-fold, and its destructive power is also amplified in the same manner.
